Boy, 8, airlifted to hospital after Workington bike accident


A YOUNG boy has been airlifted to hospital after a bike acciddent in Salterbeck, Workington. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the scene at 1:55pm on August 15. The 8-year-old boy came off his bike at speed and sustained serious head and facial injuries. GNAAS medics worked alongside road paramedics to treat and stabilise the patient before he was flown to the major trauma centre at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary for specialist care.

GNAAS medics worked alongside road paramedics to treat and stabilise the patient before he was flown to the major trauma centre at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary for specialist care. The flight took 25 minutes and he arrived in a stable condition.
