Boy, 10, flown to Liverpool children’s hospital after bike crash


The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to a 10-year-old boy who had crashed into a metal post while riding a bike in Flimby, Allerdale. The boy was assessed and treated by the GNAAS trauma team for potential head and chest injuries, before being flown to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool within 30 minutes.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to a 10-year-old boy who had crashed into a metal post while riding a bike in Flimby, Allerdale.

The boy was assessed and treated by the GNAAS trauma team for potential head and chest injuries, before being flown to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool within 30 minutes. He arrived in a stable condition.

GNAAS was called to the incident at around 5pm on Saturday 29 April.

UPDATE: The boy’s mother has since been in touch to inform us the his CT scan came back all clear. Great news.
