A motor show in remembrance

A man whose brother was killed while fundraising for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) is about to host his 6th motor show in aid of the charity. Colin Toner, 52, from Middlesbrough, has been raising money since 2007 after his brother was killed while on the last leg of a 500 mile fundraising motorcycle trip. An air ambulance has since been dedicated to his brother and his name appears on the side of The Guardian of the North aircraft. The motor show has been held at the Dorman’s Club, in Middlesbrough, for the past 5 years and has raised more than £12,000 since its origins. The father-of-two said: “I do the shows in memory of my brother.

The father-of-two said: “I do the shows in memory of my brother. It is a great charity, who has helped hundreds of people over the years.”

The 6th motor show is taking place at the Dorman’s Club, Oxford Road, Middlesbrough, on Sunday 22nd where a variety of vehicles will be exhibited including vintage, sports, custom, race and rally.

There are six live bands that will be playing rhythmic blues, jazz, classic rock and pop at the event, as well trade stalls, craft stalls and a bouncy castle.

Mr Toner said: “It is set to be a fantastic day and hopefully lots of people will come out to show their support.”

The show starts 10-5pm, and tickets are £2 for adults and under 15s are free but must be accompanied by an adult.

There is free camping and caravanning facilities on Friday and Saturday night, please contact colintoner@sky.com to confirm a place.
