What you can expect
The route
The Manchester Marathon is renowned for its fast, flat course, making it one of the UK’s most popular marathons for both first-time runners and those chasing a personal best. Starting at Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United, the route heads out through the city before winding its way through the vibrant communities of Stretford, Sale, Timperley and Altrincham.
Along the way, runners are treated to incredible crowd support, with live music, entertainment zones and thousands of spectators creating an electric atmosphere from start to finish. The course then loops back towards the city, passing through Chorlton, Whalley Range and Hulme before returning to the finish line in Manchester city centre.
With minimal elevation, wide roads and an unforgettable atmosphere, the Manchester Marathon route is designed to help runners perform at their best while enjoying one of the most exciting marathon experiences in Europe.
