The challenge with no limits.
Take on our toughest digital fundraising challenge this October – Miles4Missions, inspired by the unpredictable nature of our critical care team’s missions.
The premise? Each day throughout October, youโll receive a distance to cover – the number of call-outs our crew responded to the day before, converted into miles.
You have 24 hours to complete these miles. Just like our critical care team, youโll need to be resilient and adaptable.

How it works
- Be ready for anything
Every morning during the Miles4Missions challenge, youโll receive a WhatsApp message revealing your โmission milesโ – the exact number of emergency incidents our air ambulance crew responded to the day before.
Each of those real-life missions will be translated into the miles that youโll take on that day. Some days you might have zero miles to tackle, others you may have eight โ youโll need to be ready for whatever the challenge throws your way.
- Your miles, your way
You decide how to move. Whether itโs running through the streets, walking the dog in the hills, cycling along country lanes, rowing at the gym, or even clocking up steps on a treadmill โ take on the distance in a way that suits your lifestyle.
No matter how you complete your miles, every step, pedal, or stroke is a tribute to the real missions flown by our air ambulance crews, and a powerful way to show your support for life-saving care across the North.
Our gift to you
On sign-up, you’ll get:
- Your fundraising pack with tips on how to make the most of your efforts.
- A community space to share progress, encourage others, and celebrate milestones.
- Fundraising resources to help you maximise your impact.
Also, the first 30 supporters to raise ยฃ10 on JustGiving will be sent a GNAAS water bottle to ensure you stay hydrated throughout the miles!

Your impact
Every mile in this challenge mirrors a mission flown, a life touched, a family kept together.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service provides world-class pre-hospital care to some of the most isolated and critically injured patients across Cumbria, Northumberland, North Yorkshire, County Durham, and the Isle of Man. Our crews operate 365 days a year, ready to deploy at a momentโs notice.
But we canโt do it without your help.
Each air ambulance mission costs thousands of pounds and is only possible thanks to the generosity of supporters like you. By taking on the Miles 4 Missions challenge, you’re helping us to fuel the flight of every helicopter, every critical care car, and every crew member heading to the scene of the incident.
