A PARAGLIDER was seriously injured in a crash landing on Blencathra at the weekend.
The 38-year-old man, from Durham, crash landed at the edge of Gategill falling almost 40 feet down a crag, suffering serious multiple injuries.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the scene on Saturday 6 August and requested the help of Keswick Mountain Rescue Team due to the tricky terrain.
The doctor and paramedic team treated the patient at the scene for his immediate injuries before he was winched to safteyย by the coastguard helicopter and transferred to the GNAAS aircraft.
The patient was then further treated to stabilise him for the onward flight to the Newcastleโs Royal Victoria Infirmary. The flight tookย just 25 minutes andย he arrived in a stable condition.
