A young woman whose family was helped by their local air ambulance has continued her support for the charity by organising a fundraising night.
Sophie Kelly, 22, from Frizington, has organised a fundraising night on July 8 in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) which flew to her and her family after a car crash on the A66, near Threlkeld, in 2011.
The fundraising night will be held at the Marchon Sports & Social Club, Whitehaven, and will offer a variety of entertainment including a DJ, band, raffle and an auction.
Tickets for the night cost ยฃ10. The event is for over 18s only. All entertainment is inclusive in the ticket fee, a buffet is also included.
Miss Kelly said: โIโm really nervous for this charity night, Iโm hoping to get around 150-200 people there.
โIโve done fundraising for GNAAS before but Iโve never organised a fundraising night myself, itโs always been active fundraising and bake sales.โ
Miss Kelly has rounded up a range of fantastic prizes to be won in the raffle on the night.
Some of the prizes up for grabs are two tickets for a St Helens rugby match, Oxley spa day for two, Armathwaite Hall afternoon tea for two, meal vouchers, beauty vouchers and a range of hampers.
On the night, a live auction will be held with the chance to bid for a variety of signed photos from special celebrities including Alan Shearer and Anthony Martial.
Miss Kelly has supported the charity since two of its aircraft were drafted in to the car smash that she was involved in alongside her father and now ex-boyfriend. Her father, Kenneth Kelly, sustained a fractured right hip, broken right ankle and a sprained left ankle in the accident and has sadly since passed away.
She said: โI am extremely grateful for what this charity has done for me and my family.
โItโs an extremely good cause and itโs is fully funded by the public, so Iโm just doing my bit to help.โ
