Your donations of used clothing are saving lives in our region. Every year, the Great North Air Ambulance Service receives hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of clothing, so it is a vital source of income for the charity.
Our door to door textile collection service operates throughout the North-East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. The white plastic collection bags are distributed by our team and then collected three days later. The collection date is shown clearly on the sleeve of the bag. Our fleet of vehicles are clearly marked with our logo and all of our drivers carry identification badges.
The bag can be filled with clothing, handbags, belts, footwear and household textiles such as curtains, towels and bed linen. However, we do not accept duvets or pillows. If you miss the collection date, don’t worry, just call the number on the bag and we will organise for one of our drivers to call back.
We receive a very good price for the clothing collected and nothing is shredded or sold as rags. We do not sort the clothing and everything is exported to Europe where it is sold as good quality clothing in shops.
For further details on textile collections please call 01325-308139 or click here.
We encourage organisations such as scout groups, girl guides, cricket clubs and swimming clubs to get involved and arrange their own clothes collections. This is a great opportunity for communities to come together for a good cause. GNAAS will then send a van to pick up the clothing on a date to suite you, it couldn't be easier. Please call 01325-308139 or click here.
Schools can also get in on the action. We supply the children and staff with one of our bags to take home in order to be filled with unwanted clothing and household textiles. Posters and a letter home are also supplied to advertise the collection date and time of collection. The bag is then returned, on a date and time chosen by the school, in order for us to collect.
