Woman treated by air ambulance after falling near Lake District tarn


The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was needed to rescue a woman in her 80s who had fallen on a Lake District tarn. The woman had fallen near Burnmoor Tarn, near Wast Water, in the western Lake District, on Sunday at around 1.15pm. Paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service were also in attendance and found that the woman had injured her back. The patient was assessed by the aircrew doctor and paramedics before being flown to a waiting ambulance for onward transportation to hospital. .
