Woman sustains spinal injuries in Gelt Wood obstacle challenge


A woman sustained spinal injuries while taking part in a mud obstacle challenge at Gelt Woods, near Brampton, at the weekend. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Gelt Woods, near Brampton, Cumbria, at around 11.45am on Saturday (May 16). The injured woman was treated by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic crew, joined by St John Ambulance staff at the scene. The patient was then flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in fifteen minutes.

The patient was then flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in fifteen minutes. By road, the same journey would have taken around an hour and fifteen minutes. The patient was stable on arrival.
