Here are three of the incidents we attended over the weekend:

Saturday, 16:15pm – We were called to an incident near Pittington, County Durham where a male in his thirties had been involved in a road traffic accident. After assessment at the scene and following pain relief he was flown to the RVI in Newcastle with suspected chest, abdominal and pelvic injuries. The flight took nine minutes.

Sunday, 11:05am – We were called to a very serious road traffic accident in Jarrow where we assisted the North East Ambulance Service, fire and police teams with an accident involving a car and a digger. The doctor-led trauma team anaesthetised a female in her thirties after suffering serious face and head injuries and she was flown to the RVI in Newcastle in just four minutes.

Sunday, 12:55pm – We were called to the aid of a cyclist in his thirties who was taking part in a cycle event near Edmundbyers. He sustained a head injury and was assessed at the scene by the air ambulance doctor but it was decided that he was not seriously injured – possibly due to the fact that he was wearing a cycle helmet. He was transported by the North East Ambulance Service to the RVI in Newcastle.
