Walkers wanted for fundraising hike

A man hopes to gather a group in excess of 100 people to take part in a fundraising walk this summer. Christopher Coyne, 34, of Norton, Stockton-on-Tees, has already pursuaded 45 people to join him in a 15.5 kilometer stretch of the Cleveland Way. Now Mr Coyne is hoping others will join in, and he has set himself a target of 100 participants. The walk will raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and will start at Roseberry Topping, near Great Ayton, on July 26th. Mr Coyne said: “I just wanted to do something worthwhile for the charity.

I’ve seen them in action and it’s clearly an expensive operation to run, so I just wanted to do my bit.

“I’m pleased with the sign-ups so far. There’s been a lot of interest, but the more people we can get involved the better because that will mean more money for the charity.”

Claire Herworth, of GNAAS, said: “We’d like to thank Mr Coyne for his efforts so far and hope he can get to his target of 100 people. It costs £4m a year to fund the charity and every penny counts, so this is definitely a case of the more the merrier.”

If you would like to join in, please call Mr Coyne on 07983-943799. For sponsor forms, call GNAAS on 01325-487263. To set up an online sponsor form, visit www.createanddonate.co.uk
