Tyneside philanthropist will celebrate 25 years in business with GNAAS fundraiser

A TYNESIDE philanthropist will celebrate 25 years in business by throwing his latest fundraiser at Sedgefield Racecourse this week. Tom Robson – one of the Great North Air Ambulance Service’s (GNAAS) biggest single donors – will host the bash on Thursday as part of the County Durham course’s Ladies Evening. Mr Robson, who runs Jarrow-based environmental engineers Roflow Ltd, has enlisted the support of 1980s soul act Phil Fearon and Baby D who enjoyed a number one in 1994 with Let Me Be Your Fantasy. The acts will perform in The Collins Suite, where a raffle and auction will raise money for GNAAS. Last year’s event raised £8,998 for the charity and Mr Robson said he hopes to top that amount this week. He added: “We are thrilled to be celebrating our 25th Anniversary and are once again proud sponsors of The Roflow Ladies Evening at Sedgefield Racecourse on Thursday.

He added: “We are thrilled to be celebrating our 25th Anniversary and are once again proud sponsors of The Roflow Ladies Evening at Sedgefield Racecourse on Thursday. We love celebrating in style with friends and family so come along and join us for a fantastic evening of racing, food and great entertainment in the wonderful atmosphere of The Collins Suite.”

Mandy Drake, of GNAAS, said: “Tom is one of biggest supporters and we are thrilled that he has chosen to back us once more. He’s a busy man but always finds time for the air ambulance, and for that we are extremely grateful.”

Jill Williamson, executive director at Sedgefield Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to be sharing an anniversary with a local family business as well as being part of Roflow’s annual charity fundraiser for the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Let’s hope this year is even more successful than last year.”

This year’s raffle includes Michael McIntyre tickets and vouchers for Wynyard Hall. The auction includes lots such as a yacht trip on Lake Windermere and champagne breakfast followed by racing for ten people.
