Severely injured motorcyclist treated by medics at Wynyard


The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to an incident at Metal Bridge near Bowburn, County Durham, 6.30pm last night, where a motorcyclist had struck a lamppost and sustained severe injuries.

The North East Ambulance Service was on scene first and treated the patient before they transported him to a rendezvous point at Wynyard, where the GNAAS doctor-led trauma team arrived in a rapid response car to induce the male into a coma. He was transported by road from Wynyard to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where he arrived in a critical condition.
