Runner hurt in Grasmere fall


A RUNNER was airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries when she fell in the Lake District. The woman, from Kirkby Lonsdale, was running on the shore path of Grasmere when she fell and sustained chest and hip injuries. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was scrambled from its base near Penrith at 11:50am on Sunday and flew to the site near the lake. The aircrew doctor and paramedic assessed and treated the patient before she was flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle within 12 minutes where she arrived in a stable condition.  .
