Roflow Ladies’ Race Evening raises £12,740 for GNAAS

Thanks to everyone who helped raise an astonishing £12,740 at the annual Roflow Ladies’ Race Evening at Sedgefield Racecourse.

The money, donated to GNAAS, was raised from the on-course raffle, donations, auction and raffle in the Roflow Suite.

Joining us on the evening were racing legend Bob Champion and our former patient, jockey Henry Brooke, who spoke about his experience of being airlifted after a fall at Hexham racecourse last year.

X Factor winner Steve Brookstein performed a set and former World Welterweight Champion John H Stracey, who was a guest, got up to sing a few Rat Pack favourites.

Plans are already in place for next year’s event, to be held on Thursday August 30th 2018.

The event is sponsored by Tyneside firm Roflow Environmental Engineering. Tom Robson, managing director at Roflow, is a longstanding supporter of GNAAS.

He said: “We had a great night and managed to raise a lot of money as well, so everyone’s a winner. I still can’t believe this incredible service is wholly reliant on donations from the public to survive.”

Grahame Pickering MBE, chief executive of GNAAS, said: “Tom has been one of our biggest supporters over the years. He always puts everything into his fundraisers and this year’s race evening was no different. We’d like to thank Tom, everyone at Roflow, and all who came out and supported the event and helped raised so much money.”
