Pride of Cumbria called to action twice yesterday

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was yesterday called at 3.45pm to Patterdale where man had been hit by a car. Thankfully, the 65-year-old was found to have sustained only minor injuries. He was treated by the GNAAS aircrew alongside North West Ambulance Service paramedics and a BASICS doctor. He was then flown to Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. The flight to hospital took 16 minutes and the patient arrived in a stable condition.

On the return journey to the airbase in Langwathby, near Penrith, the Pride of Cumbria aircraft was called to an incident on High Dodd where a teenager had fallen and had suffered leg injuries. The 14-year-old boy was assessed and treated on scene by the GNAAS doctor-led aircrew before he was flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in a flight that took 12 minutes. He arrived in a stable condition.
