North East businesses have a heart

We gain an incredible amount of support from the business community from a wide spectrum of organisations, from independent and national retailers, to entrepreneurs, designers, law firms, car dealerships, garden centres, global engineering and manufacturing companies.

We gain an incredible amount of support from the business community from a wide spectrum of organisations, from independent and national retailers, to entrepreneurs, designers, law firms, car dealerships, garden centres, global engineering and manufacturing companies. All of these supporters have one thing in common; the will to support their local community while creating a charitable and enriched environment for their employees. Our charity epitomises community powered care, as we are completely dependent on the generosity of such businesses to keep our helicopters flying.

Since January we have welcomed several new supporters to the GNAAS community, with lots of plans for some community action in the pipeline.  Most recently, we welcomed Jennings group, a renowned North East car retailer. The enthusiasm and support from our initial meeting was incredible. We’ll be kickstarting our partnership with our annual raffle campaign, for which they have generously donated a brand new Kia Rio as the top prize. Thanks to the help of supporters just like Jennings, the annual GNAAS Car Raffle has raised a phenomenal £584,200 since the first car was raffled in 2011. Read more about our partnership story here.

More details of our car raffle campaign due to launch in early summer are coming shortly. If you’d like to get involved and help us sell tickets contact Ruth, our Events Manager, on 01325 487263.

Sintons Law Firm have also joined the GNAAS team and their support begins with a zip slide event at the Tyne Bridge on the 16th April. They are also organising a league charity football match and have plans to hold their own ball.  In addition, throughout the year they will be taking part in numerous team-based fundraising activities. Charity supporters from Roadchef Durham have also booked places on this same zip slide and have teamed up with Sintons for the thrilling challenge.

In the retail fashion world Matalan has also chosen to support us across the North East region and so we are fortunate enough to have 14 of the chain’s stores helping to raise money for us throughout 2016. They have also pledged to support our community bag collection campaign. Keep in touch for more details.

Dobbies Garden Centre of Ponteland, near Newcastle, has raised an amazing amount of money over the past 12 months, with the main source of income coming from their bucket collections. An impressive £4,728.27 has been raised throughout their charity of the year campaigning on our behalf. We say goodbye for now and we hope the Dobbies team have enjoyed supporting us.

Lastly, ConocoPhillips, a global engineering company based in Wynyard, County Durham, tirelessly fundraised throughout 2015 and their generosity culminated in a final donation of £10,000 being presented to our public liaison officer, Diane Walker. Despite our charity of the year partnership ending they have offered to continue supporting us with volunteer hours at future events.

It goes without saying that we are incredibly grateful for this support and a huge thank you goes out to each and every individual who has helped us.

We’re looking forward to building long lasting relationships with all of our business supporters.

If you’re an existing supporter who would like to shout about your fundraising plans or you’re interested in getting involved with us contact Diane Walker on 01325-487263.
