Naked mascot bear in clothes plea

A NAKED teddy bear has appealed for sponsors to help hide his modesty and allow him to become a life-saving charity’s new mascot.

The man-sized bear is raising money to buy a flying jacket and goggles to allow him to represent the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS), the charity operating three helicopters across the region.

The charity is hoping to attract businesses and groups to raise the money needed to prepare the bear for his first public appearance at GNAAS’ It’s a Knockout competition and fun day at Darlington Rugby Club on Sunday, September 23rd. Each sponsor will get a patch on the bear’s jacket for two years for a £50 contribution.

The bear will be given a name before his first outing and will then travel throughout the North-East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria to raise awareness of the work of GNAAS, which relies on public funding to continue to operate.

Sarah Zissler, of GNAAS, said: “This poor bear is too ashamed to be seen in public without his clothes on. We are hoping local businesses and community groups can buy bear his flying jacket and goggles so he can represent the Great North Air Ambulance Service with pride.”

If you can help, please call GNAAS on 01325-487263.
