A motorist was airlifted to hospital after a collision between a car and motorcyclist at Stockton.

The Guardian of the North helicopter was called to Wynyard Road yesterday morning (November 12).

The female car driver had sustained lower back and pelvic injuries. She was stabilised at the scene by the Great North Air Ambulance Service, working alongside the North East Ambulance Service before she was flown to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.

The fight took five minutes and she arrived in a serious but stable condition. It is believed the motorcyclist was taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm.
