A WOMAN from Middlesbrough has won a car in a competition which has raised more than £120,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).

The winner, who has been contacted, was said to be “jubilant” after being told the news that she was now the owner of a brand new Kia Rio. She will be named at a handover of the vehicle next week.

With money still coming in, the annual raffle has so far raised £124,000 for GNAAS.

The funds will be spent supporting the work of the charity’s aircraft across the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

Many Drake, head of fundraising at GNAAS, said: “The car raffle is one of the highlights of our fundraising year. This year’s winner happened to also be one of our weekly lottery members, so it was especially gratifying to give her the good news. We look forward to running the event again next year.”

The winning ticket numbers were: ticket no. 261662 from Middlesbrough for 1st prize, ticket no. 467286 from Cleveland for 2nd prize, a hotel stay, and ticket no. 4537 from Berwick for third prize, £100 cash.
