Man suffers serious head injury in horse incident at Chester-le-Street


A MAN suffered a life-threatening head injury in an incident involving a horse. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Chester-le-Street, County Durham, on November 13. The 64-year-old man was given an anesthetic and advanced treatment by the GNAAS trauma team before being flown to the major trauma centre at Newcastle’s RVI for further specialist care.

The 64-year-old man was given an anesthetic and advanced treatment by the GNAAS trauma team before being flown to the major trauma centre at Newcastle’s RVI for further specialist care. The flight took four minutes; by road this would have taken around 28 minutes.

The patient arrived in a serious but stable condition.
