Man seriously hurt in Seascale gas explosion


A man was flown to hospital with serious burns after a gas explosion in Seascale at around 9:45am on Thursday (March 12). The 25-year-old man, from Cleator Moor, suffered serious burns to his head, back and arm after the explosion.

The 25-year-old man, from Cleator Moor, suffered serious burns to his head, back and arm after the explosion. It is believed he was blown through a window at the property in the blast.

Emergency services, including the fire, police and ambulance crews were called to the scene. On arrival, firefighters discovered a gas explosion had occurred on the first floor of a terraced property, and there was a fire.

The injured man was treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service and the GNAAS doctor and paramedic team for serious burns before being flown to the major trauma unit at Royal Preston Hospital. The flight took 30 minutes and he arrived in a stable condition.
