Man airlifted after cow attack


A 72-year-old man was flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with serious head injuries after being attacked by a cow.


The incident happened on the outskirts of Harrington, near Workington, yesterday.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service’s Pride of Cumbria, based at Langwathby near Penrith, flew to the scene to assist the North West Ambulance Service.

The charity’s onboard doctor and paramedic team assisted the man at the scene before moving him onto the aircraft.

He was then flown to Carlisle. The flight took 16 minutes and the man arrived in a stable condition.
