Jockey airlifted from Sedgefield Racecourse


The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called to Sedgefield Racecourse after a jockey fell off his horse at speed at 2pm yesterday (Thur). The 46-year-old suffered a potential serious head injury and was flown to the major trauma centre at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The 46-year-old suffered a potential serious head injury and was flown to the major trauma centre at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. The flight took four minutes and he arrived in a stable condition. 

The Great North Air Ambulance Service operate three aircraft across the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria and need £4m every year to run the service.
