Here is a round-up of the incidents we attended at the weekend.

On Saturday at 8am we were called to an incident near Windermere, after a collision between a cyclist and a vehicle. The patient, a male in his 60s, suffered suspected spinal and shoulder injuries, thought to be serious. He was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital in 20 minutes. He arrived in a stable condition.

At 9.20am on Sunday, we were contacted by North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) about an incident in Newcastle, after initial reports of a car colliding with a crowd of people. Our Durham Tees Valley Airport based aircraft responded to help NEAS teams on the ground. We also activated off-duty aircrew doctors and paramedics to assist with the multiple casualties. We did not airlift any patients, however, our crews accompanied patients to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, by road.

At 4pm on Sunday, our Langwathby-based crew flew to the A66, near Warcop, after a collision between a heavy goods vehicle and two cars. We worked alongside North West Ambulance Service to treat a female in her 60s, who had suffered non-life-threatening neck injuries. She was taken by road to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. The patient was in a stable condition on arrival.
