Horse rider seriously injured after fall at Shildon


A HORSE rider has been seriously injured after a fall at Shildon, County Durham, on Sunday (February 7). The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to the incident by a North East Ambulance Service rapid response paramedic at around 2.45pm. It involved a 60-year-old woman from Bishopton who had sustained serious head and leg injuries. The patient was stabilised at the scene before being flown to the major trauma centre at James Cook University Hospital in 6 minutes; by road this would have taken around 40 minutes.  .
