Halloween fundraiser in aid of a life-saving charity on a car crash anniversary


A MOTHER is holding a Halloween fundraiser in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) which flew to the aid of her son following a horrific car crash. Pamela Dei-Ceci, from Howden, Wallsend, is organising the event to raise funds for the life-saving charity after her son was airlifted by the charity in October 2002. David Dei-Ceci, 28, was travelling to Kielder Forest, Northumberland, when the driver of the car lost control and crashed into a field near Bingfield. Mr Dei-Ceci, who was 17 at the time, was thrown from the vehicle andsustained serious brain injuries.

David Dei-Ceci, 28, was travelling to Kielder Forest, Northumberland, when the driver of the car lost control and crashed into a field near Bingfield.

Mr Dei-Ceci, who was 17 at the time, was thrown from the vehicle andsustained serious brain injuries. GNAAS was called to the scene and airlifted him to Newcastle General Hospital, where he spent three weeks in intensive care.

Ms Dei-Ceci, 53, said: “They no doubt saved my son’s life and I hope to raise as much as I can for the fantastic organisation. I can never thank them enough.

“It is set to be a great day. A fire engine and Lotus Elise sports car will be in attendance and there will also be the chance of winning a track day from Driving Sensations.”

The event, which is being held at the Linskill Centre, North Shields, takes place on October 29th, from noon to 3pm. There will be a best pumpkin and fancy dress competition, children’s games, a tombola and raffle with prizes such as champagne and eyelash extensions worth £80,as well as a cake stall and refreshments. Entry is £1 per adult and 50p per child.

Mandy Drake, head of fundraising at GNAAS said: “We hope everyone has a fantastic day and thanks to the whole family for their ongoing support.”
