Forestry worker hit by falling tree


The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) were called to reports of a forestry worker who had been hit by a falling tree at Catlowdy, north of Longtown, yesterday (June 29). On arrival, the aircrew doctor and paramedic made their way to the man who was in a wood, before they assessed and treated the patient for his life-threatening back injuries.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) were called to reports of a forestry worker who had been hit by a falling tree at Catlowdy, north of Longtown, yesterday (June 29).

On arrival, the aircrew doctor and paramedic made their way to the man who was in a wood, before they assessed and treated the patient for his life-threatening back injuries.

They were later joined by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) paramedics who assisted in carrying him to the helicopter before he was flown to Newcastle RVI in 15 minutes. The man was stable upon arrival.
