Five casualties after road crash


Five people were injured after a road crash near Lynemouth, Northumberland, on Saturday (29 Nov). The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called to the scene where there were multiple casulties, one of which was critically injured. Ambulance crews, police and the fire service all attended, as well an RAF Sea King helicopter that was in the area.  The GNAAS trauma team worked with other medics to assess all patients and then began treatment on a male teenager who was in a critical condition.

Ambulance crews, police and the fire service all attended, as well an RAF Sea King helicopter that was in the area. 

The GNAAS trauma team worked with other medics to assess all patients and then began treatment on a male teenager who was in a critical condition. He was given a general anaesthetic to stabilise him and allow a surgical procedure to be performed before he was flown to the major trauma centre at the Newcastle’s RVI. The flight took seven minutes.
