The Great North Air Ambulance Service attended a three vehicle collision on the A591 at Thirlmere yesterday.

There were four casualties in total, although two were more seriously injured than the others. We worked with North West Ambulance Service and North West Air Ambulance Charity in treating the patients on scene.

NWAA flew one female to hospital in Preston. We flew another female to hospital in Carlisle. Both had sustained non life-threatening chest injuries and both arrived in a stable condition. Our flight from scene to hospital took 12 minutes. By road, the journey would have taken around 50 minutes in good traffic.
