Yesterday at 4.44pm, the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Prudhoe where a five-year-old male had been struck by a car.

He had sustained serious leg injuries. He was treated on scene before being flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The flight took five minutes and the patient was stable on arrival. His injuries were not-thought life-threatening. We would like to thank everyone at the scene including members of the public who cared for the boy until the emergency services arrived.

This was the second time in the day that we had been called to Prudhoe. At 2.25pm, we responded after a young girl was reported to be trapped under a vehicle. However, North East Ambulance Service stood down the aircraft before it had arrived on scene.
