David Allen Accountants raises £27,119 for GNAAS

David Allen Accountants have raised £27,119 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) after choosing us as their charity of the year.

The local accountancy and business services firm work with a different nominated charity each year to help boost their funding and in 2016 staff voted GNAAS as their new charity partner.

David Allen, managing partner said: “We’ve always done bits of fundraising for charity and enjoyed it. In order to structure it a little bit more formally we chose to have a charity of the year and that’s really focused our efforts.”

GNAAS is a charity which is close to the hearts of some of the staff at David Allen as they have benefitted from their services in the past.

Mr Allen added: “We recognise living in Cumbria, which is a rural area, that the Great North Air Ambulance is such an important service. When we found out just how much money it takes to run it every year we thought we would do our bit, so we’ve had a really good year and raised £27,119 for GNAAS.”

Alison Welton, partner of the firm, said: “The team have done all kinds of things, we did the Great North Run, we did Ride to the Sun, biking from Carlisle to Edinburgh overnight, and we did Christmas shopping trips, bake days, dress down days at work, and a big charity ball in the summer as well.”

Mrs Welton said that all of the staff enjoyed taking part in the fundraising and it was a great platform for team building.

Grahame Pickering MBE, Chief Executive of GNAAS said: “We are absolutely delighted with the amount of money raised by the team at David Allen. Their fundraising activities have been varied and fun and it’s been wonderful to see the whole team get so involved. The passion and enthusiasm shown by everybody is admirable and they have been an absolute pleasure to work alongside. The money raised will make a real difference to the patients that we care for in their time of need, which simply would not be possible without the support of the local community and businesses such as David Allen.”

The Great North Air Ambulance Service is completely reliant on donations to survive. Last year, it attended 354 incidents in Cumbria alone. To find out more, please visit www.gnaas.com
