Cow kick leaves man in hospital

A 50-year-old man was airlifted from a farm in Northumberland after he sustained head injuries when a fence was kicked into him by a cow.

The Great North Air Ambulance was asked to assist North East Ambulance Service with the patient.

The man had sustained a head injury with significant blood loss.

The medical team used specialist gauze and dressings, methods usually used on the battlefield, and the man was flown to the RVI hospital in Newcastle for further  assessment.

He was stable on arrival.
