Car up for grabs in air ambulance raffle!

A BRAND new car is up for grabs in a charity’s annual raffle. The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) is hoping to take the raffle’s fundraising total past £500,000, just four years after launching the first draw. The grand prize this year, donated by Rockliffe Hall and supported by Sherwoods, is a new Vauxhall Corsa, worth £8,495. Second prize is an overnight stay for two at Wynyard Hall and third prize is £100 cash. Claire Herworth, of GNAAS, said: “We hope lots of people get involved and buy a ticket to be in with a chance of winning this fantastic prize. “The money will be spent on flying missions throughout our region, and will make a real difference in the life-saving work of our crews.” Last year’s raffle winner, Teessider Tony Stephenson, got an early Christmas present when he was handed the keys to a brand new Suzuki Alto.

Last year’s raffle winner, Teessider Tony Stephenson, got an early Christmas present when he was handed the keys to a brand new Suzuki Alto. He said: “It was a massive shock when I found out, I kept asking if they were sure it was me.”

In its three previous years, the raffle has contributed a total of more than £370,000 to the air ambulance, which is entirely dependent on donations to survive.

The closing date for entries is Friday, November 28, and the draw will take place on Friday, December 5, 2014. The charity needs to raise £4m every year to run the service. For more information, visit gnaas.co.uk
