The Great North Air Ambulance Service had a busy day yesterday. Here are some of the incidents we attended:

11.02am: We attended Kirklinton near Carlisle, where a 50-year-old male motorcyclist has sustained serious leg injuries. He was treated by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic team, working alongside North West Ambulance Service personnel. The patient, from Sunderland, was then flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The flight took twenty minutes and the man was stable on arrival.

1.32pm: We were called to Horden, near Peterlee, where a 59-year-old man had sustained serious leg injuries in a DIY incident. He was treated on scene by the GNAAS doctor and paramedic crew for severe cuts to both legs, believed to have been inflicted by a power tool. He was then flown to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for further treatment.

5.01pm: A 23-year-old male motorcyclist was airlifted from Millom after colliding with another rider while off road. He sustained back and arm injuries and after treatment on scene he was flown to hospital in Barrow and was stable on arrival.

5.06pm: We were called Appleby where a motorcyclist had sustained pelvic and leg injuries after being thrown over his handlebars in a collision. He was treated on scene then flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
