Boy critical after sledging accident


The Great North Air ambulance was yesterday called to assist a North East Ambulance road vehicle with a 16-year-old male folowing an accident on a sledge.


He had sustained serious head injuries after coming off the sledge at speed.

The GNAAS doctor on scene administered an anaesthetic before the boy was transported to the James Cook University Hospital in a critical condition.

*In a seperate incident, a 40-year-old woman was airlifted from Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, after she fell from a sledge at speed. She had sustained a leg injury and was also flown to James Cook University Hospital.
