A 10-year-old boy was airlifted this afternoon after breaking his leg during a sports session at a Whitby school.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service was called at 1.30pm. A land crew from Yorkshire Ambulance Service was already on scene but requested the assistance of a doctor because of the nature of the boy’s injury.
The two crews worked together before the boy was transferred to the aircraft and flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. The flight took ten minutes and the boy arrived in a stable condition.
