A brief round-up of some of the incidents we attended during bank holiday weekend: Friday 18th: The Great North Air Ambulance was called to assist North East Ambulance Service with a 14-year-old female pedestrian who had been knocked over by a car, near Crook.

A brief round-up of some of the incidents we attended during bank holiday weekend:

Friday 18th: The Great North Air Ambulance was called to assist North East Ambulance Service with a 14-year-old female pedestrian who had been knocked over by a car, near Crook. She was treated at the scene by the doctor-led trauma team with serious head injuries before being flown to the RVI in 8 minutes.

Friday 18th: The Great North Air Ambulance was called to assist North East Ambulance Service with a road traffic accident involving a motorbike and vehicle carrying a horse box. The doctor-led trauma team treated a male who had sustained head and leg injuries on scene at Yearby Bank, Middlesbrough. He was flown to James Cook University Hospital in 3 minutes.

Saturday 19th: The Great North Air Ambulance was tasked to a serious road traffic accident at Threlkeld, near Keswick. Both of the GNAAS aircraft were sent to the scene along with an aircraft from North West Air Ambulance. The Pride of Cumbria aircraft from Langwathby transported a female to the RVI in Newcastle with serious injuries after giving strong pain relief at the scene. The Guardian of the North aircraft based at Teesside, anaesthetised a male at the scene due to significant chest injuries and multiple broken limbs. He was also flown to the Major Trauma Centre at the RVI.

Saturday 19th: The Great North Air Ambulance was called to assist a lady who had fallen while out walking in the Lake District. She was returning from the summit of Great Gable when she slipped and fell, breaking her arm. Due to the remote location the aircraft flew the patient to a land ambulance which was waiting in Buttermere for her onward journey to hospital. Keswick Mountain Rescue members helped on scene.
