Contract type

Temporary rolling contract to meet our business demands

Job description

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) is a fast paced, growing organisation which operates two helicopter air ambulances 365 days a year, across the North-East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.

We are funded by public donations and need to raise £6.7m a year to maintain this life saving service in our region.

The charity’s Trading Company, based at Newton Aycliffe, recycles used clothing, office supplies and household items. All its’ profits are donated back into GNAAS, and it is the charity’s biggest single donor.

We are currently seeking several temporary drivers/collectors/distributors to join our friendly and busy team.

You will collect clothing and other recyclable items from members of the public, schools, communities, and businesses across the North East and Cumbria. The role will also involve warehouse duties and distributing clothing bags as required, so flexibility is a must!

For our insurance purposes, applicants must be aged over 21, have a current clean UK driving licence and a minimum of two years driving experience. You should be able to work well as part of a team and have a polite and courteous manner. You will also need to take on manual handling tasks associated with collections, distributing and in the warehouse.

Whilst previous experience of working in a professional driving capacity and/or a forklift licence would be beneficial, this is not essential as training will be given. As there is a substantial amount of travel involved in this role, it would be advantageous for applicants to have a sound geographical knowledge of the North East and Cumbria areas.
