The Trauma Team
The Great North Air Ambulance prides itself in the knowledge that it has, as part of its Trauma Team, excellent members that are dedicated to the work they do.
The doctors and paramedics who are part of the Trauma Team have to complete and pass the The Great North Air Ambulance Service HEMS Crew Course.
This course includes everything from understanding the technicalities of the helicopter to practicing and understanding the latest protocols and guidelines in pre-hospital care medical practice.
The doctors, paramedics and pilots train together to learn and work as a team to provide advanced pre-hospital skills. The pilots, although they have their own specific HEMS flight training, will also learn basic medical skills allowing them to work as part of the team.
The course ends with a final full deployment moulage, that the candidates must pass to become a member of the GNAAS HEMS Trauma Team.
The course is very hard work but GNAAS believes in nothing but delivering the highest standards of care to people of the region.
If you are a doctor or a paramedic who has the right ethos and attitude to become a member of the GNAAS Trauma Team, maybe you can apply for a secondment to The Great North Air Ambulance…complete the course…make the grade…and welcome to the Team !
