Walker seriously injured in gale-force winds

The Pride of Cumbria air ambulance based at Langwaithby, near Penrith, was yesterday called to assist Coniston Mountain Rescue Team when a female walker suffered serious chest injuries after being blown over in strong winds. Aircrew paramedics assessed and treated the casualty on scene before flying her to hospital in Barrow. The flight took six minutes. The woman, believed to be from Warrington, was stable upon arrival at hospital.
