Man crushed by cow

A 46-year-old man was airlifted after he sustained serious abdominal injuries when he was crushed by a cow yesterday.
The King's Meaburn man was injured around midday. The Great North Air Ambulance Service's (GNAAS) Pride of Cumbria aircraft, based nearby at Langwathby, was requested to attend by the North West Ambulance Service.
The patient was treated at the scene by a BASICS doctor (one specially trained in immediate care), the on-board GNAAS doctor, and the road paramedic. He was then flown to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle in a stable condition. The flight took just ten minutes.
