A Keswick man sustained severe injuries to his fingers during an incident involving a circular saw this morning. The Pride of Cumbria, based at Langwaithby near Penrith, responded with a doctor and paramedic on board. The man, believed to be in his fifties, was flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for specialist treatment.

Our Pride of Cumbria aircraft, based at Langwathby near Penrith, was called to an RTC just outside of Longtown yesterday. Aircrew paramedics treated an 18yo West Cumbrian male who had sustained back, arm and shoulder injuries. He was then flown to hospital in Carlisle. Several other patients from the incident were treated and transported by North West Ambulance Service land crews.

A man in his fifties from Cleator Moor, nr Whitehaven, Cumbria, was airlifted following a 2 vehicle RTC on the A595 at Mealsgate yesterday. The man was flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with life-threatening chest injuries. The Pride of Cumbria aircraft had a doctor on board and therefore the patient was able to be anaesthetised at the scene before being airlifted for further specialist care in Newcastle.

This brave crew from Everything Everywhere (Orange and T-Mobile) are currently biking between London and Paris, all in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service. As of yesterday lunchtime, they had raised a phenomenal £50,000 for the charity! We would like to thank all involved. An update will follow next week once we have them home safe and sound!

We airlifted a 21yo man with serious head and chest injuries after a traffic collision near Hexham yesterday. The incident involved a car and a motorcycle on the Hexham to Allendale road.The man, who had been riding the motorcycle, was treated at the scene by the North East Ambulance Service and GNAAS, before being airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

A 53yo Sunderland man fell 15ft while cutting a tree at Sherburn, nr Durham, this morning. He had sustained back injuries. He was treated at the scene by our Tees Valley-based crew, including a doctor, before being airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where his condition is stable and non-life threatening.

A 52yo man from Burnley was airlifted from Scafell Pike, Cumbria, after collapsing with heart problems yesterday. The Pride of Cumbria aircraft, based at Langwathby, near Penrith, responded. Its crew treated and stabilised the patient at the scene before liaising with Wasdale MRT and the RAF, who arrived to winch him off the hill before taking him to Carlisle hospital in a stable condition. Another great example of teamwork.

Yesterday evening we airlifted a 38yo man after a 3-vehicle RTC at St Helen Auckland, County Durham. The man, from Whitton Castle, near Bishop Auckland, sustained multiple serious injuries and was flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where he was last night in a stable condition. The journey from scene to hospital took just 12 minutes.

Yesterday we airlifted a woman in her 50s from Haydon Bridge, near Hexham, after an RTC involving a car and an HGV. The woman was taken with serious head, neck and chest injuries to the RVI in Newcastle, where she arrived in a stable condition. Our crew worked alongside the road ambulance team and an off duty A&E consultant, who happened to be passing.

A 29yo woman fell from a horse at Fence Houses, Tyne and Wear, and was airlifted with life-threatening head injuries this morning. The flight to Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary took seven minutes.

This morning our Pride of Cumbria and crew flew to rescue an 18-year-old from Durham who had collapsed. He was reported to be near an area known as 'the Hole in the Wall' on Striding Edge, but on reaching the area the helicopter crew were contacted by Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) and informed that the casualty was actually down in the valley on the way to Grisedale Tarn. On landing, the aircrew doctor and paramedic assessed the casualty who was taken to Patterdale mountain rescue base by the MRT to await pick up by a land ambulance. He had back injuries and was taken to Penrith Community Hospital.
