Where are we Now?
The generous support of the public allows us to provide an air ambulance service that is second to none, offering the highest possible level of pre-hospital care across an area of 8,000 square miles. The quality of the service offered has developed rapidly over the last ten years. We now operate multiple aircraft and embark on six times the amount of missions than was the case a decade ago. In the majority of cases, the aircraft have on board an accident and emergency consultant, while all our clinical staff are trained to the highest standards possible. The helicopters are fitted with the latest equipment which allows us to carry out more complex procedures at the scene. These improvements mean that the Great North Air Ambulance Service has led the way in improving out-of-hospital care.
